This is a community of river herring wardens, town river herring committee members, town natural resources officers, community science river herring count volunteers, watershed organizations, and state,
county, and federal agencies.
The three main goals of the Network are to;
- Facilitate communication among herring wardens, state and federal fish biologists, academics, and river herring enthusiasts.
- Support herring wardens in their role as active participants in fisheries management processes.
- Document and communicate the natural and cultural history of the herring runs for the people of Massachusetts.
The ultimate goal is to do work that will increase the numbers of alewife and blueback herring in the waters of Massachusetts.
